KIK is proud to announce the launch of the Ma Brown TeachersScholarship Programme. This initiative reflects the KIK Academy’s commitment to promoting high-quality education by ensuring that all teachers have the opportunity to further their professional development through a Bachelor of Education degree.

The scholarship is named in honour of Rosemary Ruth Brown (1933–2026), a dedicated educator whose career exemplified a lifelong passion for teaching and learning. A graduate of the University of Leeds, Jenny specialised in English and Shakespeare, teaching at various schools throughout her career. She concluded her professional journey with two years of service in Bamenda, Cameroon, where she not only taught English but also, alongside her husband, raised funds to build a new classroom for the local school community.

Cameroon remained especially close to her heart; such was her affection for the country that she named her dog “Tangui,” after a popular bottled water brand there. Known affectionately as “Ma Brown” by colleagues and students as a mark of respect, she continued to be called by this name among family and friends upon her return to the United Kingdom.

In recognition of her legacy, Jenny Brown’s family has generously offered to fund the first scholarship recipient. This inaugural award will support a female teacher, marking the beginning of what is intended to be a transformative and enduring programme.
