KIK is managed by a Board of Trustees, responsible to the Charity Commission. The Trustees plan what KIK will do, ensure these plans are being followed, and that funds are expended properly. Importantly, some of the Trustees are Sierra Leone nationals with a deep knowledge of the country and its needs.
The Management Team in the UK is headed by Lorraine Goldsbrough, and comprises people chosen for their expertise in topics relevant to KIK’s work. The UK Management Team is supported in Sierra Leone by an experienced committee of local Kailahun residents, fronted by the Academy Head Teacher, Mr Timothy Sellu.
Increasingly, previous beneficiaries of the KIK programme are helping with KIK’s work in Kailahun. It is expected that, over time, KIK’s work in Sierra Leone will largely be handled by these local and committed individuals
